DYSP is an entry-level race programme with timed runs at the start and end of each block, plus off-trail freeride skiing for riders who love exploring beyond the groomed trails.
The DYSP programme (Dobo Youth Snow Pro) includes a mix of free skiing, drills, and gate/race training, with an emphasis on having fun while improving technique and confidence. In race terms, this is an entry-level programme, but there will be an opportunity to ski a timed course at the start and end of each programme, weather and snow conditions permitting. We’ll also spend time on off-trail freeride skiing — so if that side of the sport is their passion, they won’t be disappointed. Participants receive a DYSP team hoodie and the opportunity to attend the Mt Hutt Interfield ski races at the end of September, though this will be at an additional cost.
Eligibility
DYSP skiers must be at NZSIA FUNdamentals Level 4 or above and able to ski all marked trails at Mt Dobson confidently, including black runs from the top of the T-bar, with skis parallel or close to parallel at all times before embarking on the programme.
If in doubt, a pre-programme assessment can be arranged. The target age range is 8 to 14; exceptions may be made at Mt Dobson’s discretion.
